Promote the Sharehood
If you like the Sharehood and want to help us spread the good word about it - thank you! Word of mouth is a great way to get the word out and help people build local communities and share stuff with their neighbours. Besides just teling your neighbours and friends about us, there's a number of things you can do..
We have a Sharehood Facebook page! If you are into social networking, you can "like" us, link with us, find out about upcoming events and help us spread the word by telling and inviting your friends to join.
We often have journalists asking to interview members of the Sharehood who are active in their local communities. If you're interested in being interviewed on behalf of the Sharehood, get in touch with us and let us know.
If you are interested in just carrying around some Sharehood info to give to interested folk, you can print out, fold and distribute our flyer.
We've also got a fancy new postcard with our new design. You can download the Indesign file for editing if you want to raise some money and get some printed to distribute in your area. Or if you're in Australia, contact us and we can post you some (make sure to let us know how many you want!).
Craft markets, community festivals, sustainability fairs and other events are a great way to promote the Sharehood to like minded folk. Sometimes these events offer free stalls to not-for-profit community organisations (like us!). We've put together a stall kit, to help you out if you want to host a Sharehood stall at a community event in your area. Please let us know if you want to do this so we don't double up. We can support you to have a stall and talk to people if you haven't before, and arrange to get some photos for the website too!
Maybe you are a writer and could submit an article about the Sharehood to a newspaper, magazine or blog you know, or if you know journalists or editors who you could ask to write about us, go for it and let us know.
If you're interested in doing this stuff on an ongoing basis, you may also be interested in starting a regional group to help you.
If you can think of other ways of promoting the Sharehood through your existing networks and community, we would love to hear from you about your ideas.
